I walked through the front door and looked straight through the house to see my husband wearing gloves in the backyard. A baby squirrel, so small its eyes were unopened, had fallen out of the nest in the tree shading our deck. He gently scooped up the creature and wrapped it in a towel.
We stared at each other, wondering what we should do as it whimpered quietly.
